I walked out of my job at Screwfix because i found the thied out and it didnt go down well. The story is i have had a letter from them to say they overpayed me by £199 and if its not paid within 7 days they will get debt collectors after me. What can i do about this as im not currently in work

Have they overpaid you?? Have they even explained where the overpayment occurred? i.e. was it in last months pay or 6 months ago?
If they haven't given specifics, ask for more details as that will at least buy you some time. However, if they have indeed overpaid you I don't think you have much choice but to pay it back.0 -
If indeed they have overpaid you through no fault of yours, then as you are currently unemployed could you offer to pay it back at say £10.00 a week/month?0

You will have to pay it back. Just make an offer to pay it back even in instalments.0

I want to say thief but not 100% sure! The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

I don't know what it means either. And I think it might be important. If the OP felt forced out of a job because of, say, whistleblowing or something perhaps even less contentious, then it might put a different slant on things anyway. Sorry, Yes it is "thief" . We were all being investigated for stealing but me and another girl also on her probationary period found the person stealing and when we reported it got ignored by the majority of staff so i felt I had to leave.Wins in 2013 - Tickets to Rockness Festival ~ Barclays ticket competition Norwich vs Southampton ~ 2X England vs Scotland Football tickets ~ 2X Norwich Vs Bury Tickets (Capital One)0

Why did you feel like you had to leave? is that not cutting your nose off to spite your face? If you had reported it and management chose to ignore it, thats their problem.0
