I decided to treat myself for Xmas, as I live alone, I went to Lidl and bought Ostrich, Springbok, Reindeer and Venison.
I will probably return to buy their quail. I get so fed up with chicken, turkey ,goose and duck.
Also they have a leaflet on how to cook lobster, which is very handy as I have one in the freezer that I don't know how to prepare/cook it.:rotfl:
The same goes for crab!0 -

I was advised to always take care to leave the intestines intact for that reason, and just take out the breast for use.0 -
I mentioned to some friends yesterday about the pheasant for £7.99 and one of them who works on a farm offered to get me a fresh shot pheasant that l'd have to pluck and chop off the head and stuff.
It wouldn't cost me anything but l'm not sure l'm upto it
i guess it's not that hard to those stuff? and plus it makes it even more special because you did it yourself and not anybody else, you'd feel every fruit of your labor then...just my own thoughts. Have a good one. :j0 -
I have tried 3 Lidl stores to get the reindeer but none of them had any - i only managed to get ostrich. Anybody know where it is availble in the Croydon and or Surrey area?0

I announced the other day that I was going to get some reindeer meat to try, as if it was good enough for people in lapland and all that..... and my daughter was NOT pleased (she's 12 btw), I would really like to try it  Perhaps I'll get some and just not cook any for her. Does it taste similar to anything we're more used to in this country I wonder?0

As someone else has said, in Lapland it is their staple meat, I remember having at least reindeer sausages while we were there. Though I shall pass on this, we have a hunter nearly in the family so get free venison from time to time

As for all the bleading heart veggies out there, it is your choice, we do not force you to eat meat, do not try to stop us! The human body is designed to eat meat, the teeth and the nutritional requirements all point to that, and we will continue to do so.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
