Why bother with a statement from VIVA! They are a group of vegitarians/vegans so no matter how good or bad the animals were/are treated they would object anyway.
What is the difference in eating cow/sheep/pig/venison etc etc, either you eat meat and eat it all, otherwise it is 2 faced. We should have the animals treated with as much dignity and respect as possible whilst alive, kill them as painlessly and as stresslessly as we can and then respect the meat and the life it was by not wasting any.

I don't see the problem - unless some parent with a cruel streak points out to their little one that they're eating Rudolph's mammy!

I am pleasantly surprised by the comments on this thread. As a Belgian national, I eat horsemeat which a lot of people in this country frown upon. To me it is no different then eating chicken, beef, etc I am waiting for the day I can purchase horsemeat overhere...0

I remember my step dad making a venison pie and we ended up with an unexpected guest for dinner, he thought we wouldn't have enough meat so went to get some more but the butchers had run out - got kangaroo meat instead. That might my mum commented on how nice it was -her face dropped when he described it as bambi and skippy pie! Priceless!!! Looking forward to trying Rudolf this weekend :-)At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0

I mentioned to some friends yesterday about the pheasant for £7.99 and one of them who works on a farm offered to get me a fresh shot pheasant that l'd have to pluck and chop off the head and stuff.
It wouldn't cost me anything but l'm not sure l'm upto it

I love this time of year in the kitchens, its when the pheasants and woodcock come in from the local shoots, it really sorts the men from the boys.
Ive seen plenty a grown man squirm when faced with a 2 week old pheasant that needs to be drawn and butchered :rotfl:
The mrs doesnt like it much though, she says the smell lingers for weeks, tis a very loveless time of year for me
Sooo any of you ladies that like a man that whiffs of dead pheasant message me
