It's going to be expensive (Virgin charges a great deal more than the BT rates shown on the CallCheckers).

To check what Virgin will charge, you need to check HERE to find the charge band for the particular number range you want to use (it'll be PGxx) and then look up the per-minute cost of calls in that charge band HERE.

By my calculations, calls to the PG12* charge band 0871 754 xxxx gateway number used by the 1st provider on the MSE CallChecker list for calling a Cayman Islands mobile (I'm assuing you mean 'a Cayman Islands mobile' and not a UK mobile which happens to be roaming in the Cayman Islands) will cost you 12.24p** connection and then 9.18p/minute to call.

    * That'd be 10.9p call set-up fee + 6p/minute from a BT residential line (so, roughly as expected, Virgin's per minute price is more than double BT's).

** 12.24p may appear to be a very odd amount to charge but a quick calculation shows that'll convert neatly to 12½p when the VAT rate goes up on 4/1/2011.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
