Hire car via insurance

Hi guys, new here and in need of some advice.

On wednesday my husband parked his car in the his works car park (royal mail), a few hours into his shift he was called out and informed a customer (who should not have bought her car into the car park) had not put her handbreak on and her car had rolled into his causing damage, she admitted fault, swapped details etc.

Steve called our insurance comapany to inform them and request a hire car, the car was dropped off at his work the next day when he was out on his round so he was therfore not around then the inspection was done.

He had, upuntil today only used the car at night, today we popped to the shop and i noticed a very large crack ay the top of the window on the passenger side around the mirror, this was not mentioned on the details of already exsisting damage and Steve is 100% sure it has not happened when he has been driving it. It's a very large crack so am sure he would notice it being hit with force! The crack is not vissable from the drivers seat.

So, i have 2 questions.....will we be held liable for this?

And, we're due to drive to france on Sunday to visit Disneyland, will we still be able to take this car? will it be safe?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help.

Jemma

  • Before thinking about the crack. Have you got the hire company's permission to take their car out of the country?

No, i'm a total moron who just does as she pleases!

Cant make up my mind whether that was sarcasm or not, if it was there was no need for it. They were just trying to help. If you need help in the future no one is going to help you at all if you come up with stuff like that. It it was sarcasm, then apologise and you might get some proper help.

Well ask a stupid question get a stupid answer is my way of thinking.

Instead of trying to help the poster nit picks, i can only assume, trying to be clever, such a shame when it fails.

And please, do not speak to me like that.

Our problem has been solved now with people with at least moderate intelligence, something i see this forum is lacking!

Just shows the intelligence of some of the new posters on here. Are you nuts !!!! or just have a persecution complex?

Actually pet, (wait for it :D) You can't dictate to me how I can speak to you, on here i can anything i want, i can speak anyway i want, I can say youre a total tit if i want. And you are, the poster was trying to help you, your perception of his post is unbelievably tosserish. Do you have any frends, no, thought not if you take umbrage at what anyone says to you. People like you dont deserve any help.
