Does anybody know if British Gas do more than one tariff for pay as you go customers?

I'm meant to be on Click dual, however appear I'm on standard. Standing charge £1.30 per week and 10.09kwh pence. Trying asking British Gas, however they have no idea when I phone. One told me that I'm on the wrong tariff and paying to much.

Thanks

Do you know when this was withdrawn? I got a statement of account, on it says people with meter with KBg do not pay a Standard charge. I've only got one rate at 10.09 and £1.30 a week for electricity. This sound right? I'm worried incase the meter is wrong and I get hit with a bill due to it being inaccurate.

    Thanks

That sounds like you are paying a standing charge. If you have an Actaris meter with KBD on it you are not supposed to pay a standing charge. I had this problem too and despite telling them they ignored it. I got the meter removed a few weeks later so have not pursued it but I was told that I would have paid more with the standing charge than without but I have no idea if that's really true and they can't send me a statement of account as they have no record of my having put money on the meter. They are pretty useless. If you get nowhere make a formal complaint. At least they talk to you then.

I've just made a complaint regarding it. I to be frank find when I phone the Pay as you go number it is pointless 9 times out of 10. Each time told something different to the same query, or a sheer lack of confidence in what the person is saying.

So since the standing charge should not be on, do youthink I can claim this £1.30 a week back? I have no idea how long it has been on. I thought I had sorted the meter al out months ago. Til I decided to check and discovered the £1.30. When I was on Click I had a standing charge, however was not as much as £1.30.

Seem to have problems with my meter around the same time each year, then takes ages to rectify!

You won't be entitled to the standing charge back because the charge per unit will be different with the correct tariff. They should be able to work out what you have paid and what you should have paid by looking at your account. I've always found the guys at customer service to be very personable and sound as if they are being helpful but then go off and do nothing. Except for once that is when I called and got what sounded like India.. do they have call centres in India?.. and after I'd asked what had happened to the guy who was coming out to change my meter she said "I can't help you" and put the phone down.
