Email regarding Flights to USA, fraud or not???

Hi

I have received the below email from Flight Communication [urgentcommunication@eansupport.com] regarding our flights to New York in December (booked through Thomas Cook online)

TSA Secure Flight Program Requirement Now in Effect
URGENT action is required to avoid possible disruption to your flight
caja_superior.gif
Your upcoming trip(s) has been identified as missing one or more critical pieces of Secure Flight Passenger Data.
Regarding your itinerary purchased through Thomas Cook UK
The U.S. Transport Security Administration (TSA) is requiring travelers to provide Secure Flight Passenger Data for all qualified flight reservations departing on or after 1st November 2010. Compliance is mandatory.
If you haven't already, please gather the full name, gender, and date of birth for any and all travelers in your party.

Action Required: caja_inferior.gif

Can anyone please confirm for me if this genuine email or a fraud one.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

you do normally have to provide that information for flights to the US - just contact TC and tell them you have been advised that some info is missing and you would like to complete it. Not sure who the email is from - what their involvement is - if it's dodgy...but if you contact the airline directly, can't see any risk or harm in that.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

If you booked via TC, why not ask them .... you do need to have completed the info they are asking for before flying else you will not be able to fly.

I assume you have also got our US ESTA (I think that is the right name?)

What the e-mail says is true - such information is mandatory, and is a separate thing to ESTA

I don't see what anyone would have to gain from sending such an e-mail in an attempted fraud. How would it work?

The phone no is for WWTE travel, phone them on 028 9044 4632 or 028 9016 6353 not the 0870 number and ask them what info is missing.

Note that when they say FULL NAME they mean the full name of the person as in their passport - including any middle names.

BTW why is the link to "Transportation Security Agency" not to Transportation Security Agency and who is "eansupport.com"?

I actually think this is a fraud - passport details ARE valuable. I'd contact TC or whoever you booked the holiday through direct

Its not a fraud. The US introduced 'Secure Flight' with effect from 1st November and this is run by a different department so information you gave to obtain your on line ESTA does not get passed on. Agents are prevented by a number of airlines from even issuing a ticket if the Secure Flight information has not been given. Anyone who booked well in advance can expect to get something similar.
