Paypal/chargeback and collection in person

Just sold an item, the winning bidder wanted to collection in person and pay via Paypal.
I refused because of issues with chargeback claims, they could'nt see it from my pov.
Whilst its a crappy situation i can't let an item of £200+ go without any proof from my end.
How do i go about getting fees refunded?do i need to open a dispute?

If you open a dispute all buyer has to do is pay by paypal and that automatically closes the dispute.
Undortunately many people choose not to sell items on ebay that cannot be posted or couriered due to this issue. If correspondence with the buyer has been pleasant you might try asking if he would agree to a mutual, but he does not have to agree.
You also need to see this from buyers point of view, yes there is always the chance it is a scammer, but there is also a very good chance it is a real buyer who wants to use paypal as they are putting the cost on a zero interest credit card for instance, or perhaps the item has a high fail rate.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You could open a NPB dispute but if I was the buyer I would just pay then open an INR on you to get refunded.(actually if I was the buyer I would have already paid)
If you think the buyer is going to be OK you can ask for a mutual but if they refuse you won't get your fees back.0 -
Its a mobile fone,i did'nt list any collection option, but would have taken cash on collection.0

In that case you have an easy way out and all will be fine.
Send an invoice with your postage as per your auction. If buyer pays then post it special delivery as per your auciton, if buyer doesn't pay then in 4 days close the dispute and get your FVFs refunded.
They cna only scam you where collection is the only option offeredI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
