Flight Traveling to USA savings via Europe

With the UK tax on long haul flights is it cheaper to fly to euope and then to the USA. If so how is it done and from where.

It doesn't apply to through ticketing, so you could go on the Eurostar to Paris and then fly from Paris to your destination, but if there is a problem with the Eurostar you might miss your flight from Paris, so there is a risk.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

My understanding is that each leg must be a separate booking in order to avoid the tax - but of course that means you aren't covered if you miss your onward flight if the first flight is delayed / cancelled / time changes / etc EVEN if both legs are with the same airline.0
