Paypal Advice?

I was wondering if I could get some advice about Paypal as the whole thing is a bit of a mystery to me?

I read on here that it would be better to have a verified address as a buyer. Decided to do this and got two deposits made by paypal into my bank account. Entered these amounts as requested by paypal. It then told me I needed to set up credit card details. Was a bit hesitant to do so but did enter these. It told me the card details were registered for another account. They are - my husband's. We only have one credit card which we pay off in full each month. He is the additional cardholder. I'm not inclined to get another account just to satisfy a paypal rule. Is there any way round this?

I've also been reading on here that I ought to pay by credit card to protect myself. However I always fund my purchases out of previous sales at the moment so never pay any "real" money. I would prefer to pay by credit card for the protection and withdraw cash I earn by selling. Does the above circumstance mean I can't? Also is there even an option to pay by credit card if you have money in your account anyway or does it just grab the funds in there by default?

I'm sure it's designed to be a deliberately obscure system & would be grateful if someone could clarify the above!

One credit card account - one paypal account. No ifs, no buts. I don't think you HAVE to register a credit card but I'm not sure how it will affect the speed of your payments if you don't.

'I would prefer to pay by credit card for the protection and withdraw cash I earn by selling. Does the above circumstance mean I can't?'

No credit card, no credit card protection.

'Also is there even an option to pay by credit card if you have money in your account anyway or does it just grab the funds in there by default?'

You'd have to clear the balance as you're right, it will default to the balance. You could do this by making a payment to, say, your husband, so that your balance is 0, then paying with credit card and having him refund you.
