Amsterdam accommodation over New Yr

Hi everyone,
A friend and I (aged 21 and 22 - both students) are looking to stay in central Amsterdam over New Yr. However, accommodation is looking really expensive. We're looking to pay around £15-£20 per night pp, but most prices seem to be at least double this - we have been looking at mixed dorms in hostels.
Is there any specific website I could use to help me? or any other ideas we could try? We're guessing anything other than a hostel will be even more expensive, but does anyone know otherwise?
Any help anyone could offer would be fantastic
Thanks

I went to Amsterdam nearly 3 years ago & stayed in the Bulldog Hostal.
I think it might be a little over your budget though but it's worth looking into - it's right in the centre and the accommodation although 1* is lovely! Very clean, great staff, spacious and modern room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, it was fantastic. We paid on arrival in euros (booked direct with them).
For your budget i think you would only be able to look at hostals unless you book something quite far out, however the transport is very good there.
Have a great time!!0
