Life after an IVA
My husband and I had a joint IVA set up in November 2005, after lots of hard work and dertermination we managed to pay it off in July 2006, when can my credit records be cleared and I can start a fresh, not sure what i need to do if anything, I'm sure it's 6 yrs from when the IVA was started.

Hi and well done
AFAIK it is six years from when the IVA started --- but make sure all the creditors registered the default as commencing on the IVA start date. A serach with the main credit reference companies should tell you.
If any were registered "late", you can insist on having the date ammended to coincide with the IVA start date, so that the defaults "fall off" your credit record as the six year date passes.0 -
Well done :j
As mentioned above you will need to check the dates on your credit file. If these are wrong you then need to send a recorded letter to the creditor concerned with a copy of the IVA completion statement asking them to amend the record. They're usually very good at doing this although a telephone call might help to encourage them along.0 -
I have recently cleaned up my record by going directly to the credit agency. Much easier. One of the three complained that I should go directly to the credit companies concerned but a quick reminder of the data protection act and they sorted it all out.Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345
Debt free 21st Oct 2011.
All thanks to :money:0 -
Whatever you do, I'd suggest you don't pay any of the companies that offer to do this service for you. It just involves a few letters and phones calls. It's the final step in completing the whole IVA process.0
