Hello MSE's
Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes
I had an accident at work and the company have admitted liability. Over the last 3 months I ve been writing to them myself and did not involve lawyers.
Is it reasonable for me to ask for my time that was spent writing these letters to be reimbursed? Does any one know?
If I hand over my claim to a law firm they will charge fees of course - WIll I be able to charge for the time I ve spent to dat corresponding with them

Go to a lawyer, talk to them, any compensation will include anything like this.
What kind of letters have you been writing to your company. Have you kept copies of all of these and any correspondence the company has sent you.
Are you getting company sick pay or just ssp.
If you are on company sick pay you cant expect to be paid for what you are asking if youve had time off and wrote the letter etc
within that time.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hi - The letters have really been to try and answer questions around my illness and trying to agree a settlement figure with them (which they do not seem to want to do)
Yes I ve kept all emails and letters - There must be more then 15
I m not on company sick pay - I moved to a different job so its been my time I ve used0 -

Yep, it's a consequence of the accident and therefore normally recoverable.....If I hand over my claim to a law firm they will charge fees of course - WIll I be able to charge for the time I ve spent to dat corresponding with them
Unless you have detailed knowledge of the going rate for your injuries and the processes involved I'd certainly hand it over to the specialists0 -
You really shouldnt be writing to the company, you should be either
dealing with the company's insurnace company
or your solicitor should be dealing with the companies insurance company.
The company should not now be in the equasion at all at this stage. They will not offer a settlement figure, the insurance company will do this. It has absolutely nothing to do with the company now. I am really surprised they are entering into any sort of correspondence with you.
If they have admitted responsibility go and see a solicitor, most will give half an hour free session. Or go to a no win, no fee company
Good luckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hi - Yes I am dealing directly with the insurance company
Does it make a difference to the amount i get if solicitors have been involved - I kind of hope that by avoiding solicitors they will pay what is owed quicker - Is that the right view
Would you always involve a solicitor?0 -
You do need your own specialist solicitor fighting your corner!0

It'll make a lot of difference.
A specialist, respected, solicitor will get a lot more than you can, as they will know you don't know the process, and will accept a very low offer that he wouldn't.0 -

It might be my imagination but I think I can see a pattern developing0 -

the other side should consider paying whatever is reasonable rather than some arbitrary figure pulled out of the air because if they don’t then a judge will (plus some)
My time is worth £20/hr to me and twice that to my employer, are you seriously suggesting that I should get involved in a protracted correspondence over a number of weeks for £50 either in a personal or professional context?0
