Hi hope someone can advise here. I have a sky+ package. I went to record a programme last night but I was unable to watch another channel at the same time. This has never happened before. I got a no satellite signal is being received message on screen when I changed to any other channel than the one being recorded. I've switched off the box and restarted but the problem remains. I will phone sky customer services later today but am I likely to get hit with a repair bill? I have had an offer from BT vision if the repair bill is hefty I suppose I could switch.

Sounds like one of the cable connections has either come loose or broken. Let's hope it's just worked it way out of the LNB input on your box!Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

You could have still recorded your prog. but watched the other prog on terrestrial TV.
We have to do this sometimes if we want to record 2 programmes on Sat. Not often but it does occur now and again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thanks Browntoa! I expertly "shoogled" the wires at the back of the box and everything's fine. That could have been expensive for me without your advice."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

That could have been expensive for me without your advice.
i wouldnt panic in fiture.. if your paying for a subscription you can get them to fix faults free.. you just threaten to cancel.. they soon send an engineer out to keep your custom (still worth trying little things to sort it yourself first like in this instance)0 -
I presume that "shoogled" means gently moving the cable or F connector about a bit. Thanks Browntoa! I expertly "shoogled" the wires at the back of the box and everything's fine. That could have been expensive for me without your advice.
May I suggest that you redo the F connectors so that the problem is less likely to occur again. Perhaps whoever did them originally didn’t do a very good job.
It is a very simple procedure even if you haven't done it before and it is worth learning for the future.
Use the link below or Google F connector for instructions or look on one of the many Sky sites.
Edit: MSE doesn't like my link. Here it is split up. Join it in Word or notepad and then click on it.

There is a small possibility that there is a loose connection or dry solder joint in the tuner modules behind the F connector socket. If so, then threaten to leave Sky and they will probably fix it for free.0 -
