Hi
during a search for bluetooth headphones (for my ipod Touch and use with bluetooth laptop) I settled on theSony DRBT21G headphones, and found them for a pretty good price on narmart.com - the first time I clicked to enter the site from my search I had an annoying 'warning your computer is at risk' and attempt to 'scan' it which I immediately got out of and shut down, scanned with my antivirus and went back to surfing. Second attempt I decided to try narmart again and it was fine, nothing bad happened and I found I could buy the headphones for £34.65 with payments going through Paypal.
I'm just a little concerned that now when I look for reviews of the site as a shop the only results on google carry a 'warning this site might harm your computer' warning (probably because of the security scam which could have come from an advertisement on the page), and I have been unable to find any actual reviews of the seller. The Whois pages list them as being registered to Shenzhen in China which rings alarm bells too, for instance are they authentic Sony products?
Anyway if I haven't already seen enough to make me steer clear for the sake of saving 30 quid, I wondered whether anyone here has any buying experience with them?

The fake scanner thing to begin with seems fishy to me... not even mentioning the address etc.
By the way, does anyone know what this fake scanner thing does? Malwarebytes, avira all negative...0 -
I'd say cheap copies, not the real thingEx forum ambassador

I did notice when the 'scan' had started it already found something with 'banker' in the title but i shut the laptop down before it completed it's scan.
I think I will avoid that site and find a reputable one with a good dealthanks folks.

You find this annoying? Well turn off your firewall and antivirus then. Good luck with that.0 -

- at you for not reading my post!!!
The 'annoying' warning was actually part of a scam.
It was not a real warning, it was a scam!!! It came from a website advert and not my firewall or AV.
There, not so clever now, are you?IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
You're right to be suspicious. Two other things that would sound alarm bells for me: the domain was created less than 6 months ago, and the registrant also owns 29 other domains - which makes it look very much like one of the many, many Chinese web merchants that are simply created to take money off people and never deliver anything.
If you do actually get shipped something, there is an extremely high probability that it will be a bad quality fake.0 -
Oo thanks for checking that, yes I agree it's highly likely to be a fake.
I've come to terms with the fact I will probably have to pay about £60 for those headphones if I want them new and unused! If used I think I would only be prepared to pay a tenner LOL
Thanks to all those who have been helpful!IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
Wow. Well I am glad you posted that in case anyone else looking for the same answers manages to see it, definitely a case of going to their site with your eyes wide open!
I've actually decided against that model of headphone now, I saw a closeup of the foam earpieces and that just turned me off them. But I managed to hopefully get a good buy (the reviews are good!) on another pair in more of a budget range! I'll maybe add the details once I know they are a good buy quality wise.IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
It's a scam. Unfortunately I fell for one of their other sites - thenearbyshop.com (charged to my account as hanlinshop.com )
The product I bought suddenly went 'out of stock' and I heard nothing after that. I had checked the card handling merchant and it was legit (thank goodness), but the trader themselves haven't replied to a single email from me. Most of their many web shops crash when you try and submit a message to them online.
I wish I had picked up on their other sites before I bought from them. Thinking back, about two days after dealing with them, I got a series of calls from Nigeria asking if I'd like to invest in an IT scheme - it could be coincidental, but I wouldn't put it past them to sell on customer details, as they seem to be peddling malware too
For the record, some of their other sites are:
7store.net
mydigitallive.com
