Hi our son borrows the lappy of me and use's it for his homework on my account:o.
I am sure he is on the net but there is no trace in the history tab only the sites i have been on that day.
Is there anyway he can hide his internet use and still show my use?

Thanks

Ps i have now put an account on for him.;)

  • He could either remove each site he has visited from the interet history or if you use firefox, remove the history for the past 1 hour (say) or using private browsing which won't store the history.

Don't you hate it when you find out that your son is smarter than you?:o

  • So what are you going to achieve if you do find out he has been on the net except probably a big argument.
If you are that worried about it then presuming he would be connecting wirelessly as it is a laptop then turn off the wireless networking or the wireless router.

So use a blocker. Does he complete his homework though? If so then there shouldn't be a problem

If your son has an account presumably you mean that he has a seperate user account on windows?
If so I have done the same for my kids and all you need to do is activate the parental controls in Internet explorer (In Internet Options menu from memory) so he can't access anything you wouldn't want him to and then password protect your user account so he can't access the internet via your settings.

That way he can use the internet relatively safely and you don't have to mess about changing things around when you go on the internet.
Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll post precise instructions.
