Will I get a neg ?

Sold something on 5th November for £30 to an overseas buyer. Sent an invoice, and heard nothing. Sent a polite reminder on 9th, still nothing. Sent a note on 12th to say I had not received payment, and could they please contact me.
Received a one line reply "will pay tomorrow", they have feedback of over 2000.
Still not received payment. I know I can file a NPB, and if they don't respond I won't get a neg, but have a feeling that if I do, they will respond, then leave me a neg.
Any advice anyone ?

Since it is the weekend and your last message was on Friday, I would give until the end of Monday and then file an NPB. In the message you could say something apologetic like "Sorry to have to go through Ebay but I really need to reclaim my fees and resell if you no longer need the item".
You can't really control whether you will get a neg, but if you behave reasonably and keep it polite, you should minimise your chances. If they do neg you then just reply calmly and positively so you appear reasonable to others too.

Open the NPB, why let any buyer get away with not paying? That sale has cost you £3 in FVFs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes, you are right Soolin. I have checked his feedback comments and everyone else says he is a prompt payer.Open the NPB, why let any buyer get away with not paying? That sale has cost you £3 in FVFs.
Really grates that I will probably get a neg for this through no fault of mine. I have nearly 6000 feedback, and no negs so it will hurt.
Yet another instances of Ebay's totally unfair feedback policyYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

I closed an nPB on someone Friday. Good feedback, still buying from elsewhere but just didn't pay me. I couldn't work out why he was still paying others but just hadn't bothered paying me.
Still he hasn't paid so he cannot now leave feedback. It was only a £4 item, but it is the principle of it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you open an NPB and they don't pay and get a strike as a result, then you can get any neg removed and they can't leave you one, but it's never certain whether you will get one, so don't go in there acting like you will and you will probably solve it.
I agree, you have to be decisive on this; I'm in favour of waiting until Monday since the dispute will be open for four days anyway but you have tools at your disposal and should use them.
Negs for buyers were never really effective as you could never see their feedback until they bought or bid, and NPB strikes are more effective at preventing people from buying in the first place as long as you have your preferences set up to block people with two or more strikes in a certain period."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

When I started selling a couple of late payers brought my stars down to 4.7, giving 3 and 4 all round, although they left + feedback like: recommended seller, very professional, recommended, very happy etc.
Stars have recovered and now I'm a bit more patient and polite, but NPB on day 5.0 -
You won't necessarily get a neg. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago, where the buyer said he would "pay on Friday" but nothing happened. He finally paid within a day of me opening the NPB dispute, and left me positive after receiving the item. I think some people just need a bit of a kick to pay up.0

It's hard to think what advice you're looking for. Two choices. Forget about it and stand the loss of fees. Or NPB.0

I was trying to find out whether there is any way to avoid getting a neg as I haven't done anything wrong
Will leave it until close of play tomorrow in case he only has access to a computer during the week, then will go down the NPB route. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever
