Ebay help please

HI,I've recently sold a large framed picture on ebay ,my wife and I packed it up really well and sent it through home delivery, this was about 2 weeks ago ,got an email last week from buyers "They weren't sure if home direct tried to deliver it ,the son thought there was a card come through the door", but they couldn't find it ,could I ring home delivery(I sent them home delivery number ,I wasn't going to ring up, and I looked up number on tracking details and sent buyers details, home delivery had tried to deliver it and taken back to office .
Heard nothing until today I got email from buyers to say that home direct had rang them up, to say that they hadn't delivered picture because they could hear broken glass inside could I send them a refund, I've sent an email to buyers to say send me the picture back and I'll refund your money,am I in my rights to do that.?

If you can't prove delivery (and not just an attempted delivery) then th ebuyer is going to get a refund anyway.

My advice wuld be to phone courier and ask them if they have the picture and if it is marked as damaged, if so get them to return it to you.

Pictures are a notoriously difficult thing to pack unless you are using wood sided crates. I had a brilliant (not!) idea earlier this year about selling art on ebay, got some really really cheap stock and then couldn't find a courier that would insure glass fronted pictures unless I crated it in wood.
