parking ticket from london borough advice pls

Hi we used a residents visitor parking permit and had to scratch out today's day-date-month. My OH did so, but then forgot to scratch out the day. We got a £80 ticket fine. I can't think of any other reason why we have got one apart from this reason.

Has anybody had any success in appealing to this sort of thing to the council? Surely if you scratch the date and month, it is pretty obvious what the day is, and if everything else is in order, isn't it pretty much obvious it was an error on our side? Is the parking inspector being too jobsworth?

Thanks

It's still technically invalid, and no warden is going to pass up the chance of a ticket to boost his figures. if you pay within a set period (usually 14 days) the fixed penalty will normally be reduced.

I would appeal this ticket as you have a very good chance of winning, you probably get better advice from https://www.pepipoo.com on the process of appeal, they will need scans of the pcn front and back and pictures of any signs in the car park, host them on tinypic but remove personal info like reg number and ticket number.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • yes it's 50% off if you pay within 2 weeks but it is still the principle of the thing, to be honest.

I was wondering if anybody had any joy with this before probably wasting our time. I suppose it's worth having a go whatever the outcome.

    Thanks

Yes lots of people have had successful appeals, 70% of people going to adjudicator has their appeal upheld, now its your choice, but you are only risking the difference between the discount and full price, as I mentioned post on pepipoo for help and advice, certainly don't pay until you got that advice.

I think this would be classed as De Minimis at adjudication, if it gets that far. Agree with Taffy about pepipoo as they are very good at this sort of thing.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

This is the direct link to the board you need to post your case on:

Pepipoo have previously helped people get off PCNs in your exact circumstances. I can recall that there is a previous PATAS/adjudicator case where the motorist's appeal was upheld because the information on the ticket was sufficient enough to communicate one day only, without ambiguity, and because there was clearly no attempt to evade paying.

That's the sort of thing you need, a previous adjudication success to throw in the Council's face when you send your formal reps in after you get your Notice to Owner.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
