public liability cover (one off) help!!!!!

hi there

does anyone know where i can get public liability insurance cover just for one night??? is this possible???

i'll try and be brief!

i have been working as a DJ/Singer for many years and have a booking this saturday night where the PL certificate is needed. i have had one or two quotes £350 - £500. i realise that i should be responsible and have this cover but at the moment i really do not have the money. i know i am able to pay in instalments but this is just extra cost that i cant cover at the moment.

this is the first time i have ever been asked for this and i have worked 3 - 4 nights a week for the last ten years so i dont want to fork out this amount if i am never going to need it again.

is there anyway possible where i could just get the cover for the one night??

Have you investigated The Musician's Union?
Membership looks as if it includes public liability insurance at a sensible price - see their website.

As a travelling musician you should always have an annual PL insurance policy, as if someone were to be hurt by your equipment (wires, speakers...) it would not be down to the venues policy to pay, as you are providing a "paid for" service. If the worst were to happen and you weren't covered, you could be looking at bankruptsy.:eek:

Hmm, you could try Event Insurance. They do cover for one off events.
