According to the comparison sites First Utility iSave dual fuel V5 is the cheapest dual fuel supplier for my area being, £50 a year less than E.on's SaveOnline V4, the next on the list.

However after reading the reviews about First Utility I am loath to recommend them to my sister when her present deal ends.

Would you pick First Utility over E.on to save £50 per year?

I will be dealing with the online running of the account for my sister as she doesn't have her own internet access.

Also put 'first utility forum' in to Google. What comes up makes interesting reading like

    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/p/35018/firstutility-176330.aspx

FU is part pf a group that also owns First Telecom.

As to savings IMHO consumption does vary, so I do +/- 5-10% usage what-ifs. Price line-ups can vary.
  • I would not go with them for any so called price saving as you can be certain they will change that all around in a few months time when they bring out another new tariff and your tariff will rise to pay for it .
They should make it a sticky on this forum : DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE FORUMS .
No amount of savings will ever compensate for the trouble she will have unless everything runs perfect and their is never a need to call customer services, save her the trouble .

I have told my sister that if she wants to transfer to First Utility she can buy a computer, get her own internet and manage her own bills online.
I personally wouldn't have transferred to First Utility this was my sister asking.
  • First utility are a nightmare and I can't wait to be rid of them - but it's taking me months and months even to get them to let me leave! (Their fault not mine).

I wouldnt change to them for £50 no matter what the reviews were like, purely because of the discounts, she would end up paying more all year round to get 12% back at the end of 12 months (a'la Npower)

For a £50 saving its not worth it.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
