Any ASDA employees out there?

Yes, that would still be counted. They may be nice and still pay for the full shift, but don't have to.
If they're supposed to be taking someone off the till they will be annoyed at having to stay an extra 5 minutes. Also, if you're claiming 5 mins is acceptable then what about 10? 20? They want you there at that time, not 4 hours later.
woah, im not the OP, i was just asking a question0 -
My son had his induction today with Asda. I'll ask him whether it was mentioned."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

at Morrisons, its split into 15 min sections, so if u clocked out at .58, you would only be paid until .450

Just to make it clear, Junior hasn't left the shopfloor until he's told to (well trained, lol) by a supervisor, so its not a case of him leaving before he's due to ....in fact he has left the floor 'late' as he was helping a customer.
Whilst I understand what people are saying about paying in 'blocks' but to me its wrong that you are effectively rewarding people to loiter (even if its for a minute) just to ensure that they get paid for the work that they have done in that block.
As for timekeeping, I'm proud to say that that is one of the things that even as a youngster he is quite particular about.2014 Target;

look at it this way the managers have planned for x number staff to be doing x y z at 9am having done this from knowing from experience what needs to be done at that time - allowing for seasonal variations etc..........now 1 person is a couple mins late or more - work takes slightly longer and co-workers cover.......at the end of that persons shifts the management still know what needs to be done and how many staff needed ..........called operational needs - by being late those operational needs are not being met........staying on to make up the time is at the discretion of said management - great if you can do it but it puts the late comer over and above planned operational needs .........so company looses out somewhere along the line as do the co-workers picking up the slack.
Golden rule - do not be late and do not leave early as all those little minutes add up over time and looks bad on you not to mention taking the proverbialI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
I see it more of a form that you ensure you do your shift so they DO NOT have a comeback for you, i don't know if it's me being a mug or being overly efficient, but if i start at 9 i am on the shop floor by 8.59 at the very latest, similarly at the end of the shift i don't leave the floor until it's atleast a minute or two past my finishing time. While it means i effectively work maybe 5-10 minutes a week more than advertised, it also means it cannot be put to you that your timekeeping is poor - and besides, it's not that much of a burden surely to ensure that the floor is staffed, any more than 5 minutes and you go see a manager to cover you! It's not "loitering" if he's available for customers, it is working - loitering would be the process of standing about doing nothing for no particular reason, which if you're available for customers' assistance then you have reason, good practise often times looks & sounds pointless but if it means you cannot be called on something then it's clearly the opposite of "pointless"!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

If he clocked out at 16.57 he would be paid until 16.45 and likewise if he was late and clocked in at 9.03 he would not get paid until 9.15 for example. This is assuming he works on the shop floor and he is not a checkout collegue or working on a service point as they get their minutes paid19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0
