Website Hosts

Hi

I've looked through and couldn't find a thread about good hosting site's.

I'm signed up with businesslink and started on my business plan and I'm trying to find everything out before I make my decision of going ahead with my business or not.

I know there are a lot of hosting sites and I'm unsure of which ones are good and which ones I should steer clear of, so any help would be greatly appreciated

That question will bring a load of I like this one and I hate that one which is often not very helpful or instructive!

It all depends on what you want the site to do as some hosts are better for some things and others for others.

So if you could explain what a little about what the site will be for, just a plain advert, e-comerce with shop etc it would help with those willing to advise.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

Thank you for your reply Marvin

I'm starting a home business selling homemade jewellery, so I'll need to be able to display the photo's in a nice manner and accept payments. Paypal at first until I find out other ways to accept payments.

I've done a check for my domain name and it hasn't been taken yet, put hosts into google last night and ended up with loads of them! There are some ranging from £5 - £40 ish, so trying to find the best deal for what I will need

For a website thats going to have lots of photo's on would it be a good idea to have one with more webspace? 1GB etc

You should buy your domain now. If it's a .co.uk then you can get this from 123-reg.co.uk for £7.03 for two years.

Thanks Steve, I'm doing all research at the moment, the domain name I'm after is available in all formats at the moment. Just trying to work out all expenses so that I know what I need to be making to make it a success :)

Based on the details I gave you earlier you're looking at an initial outlay of £22.00ish.

I'd recommend the following hosting companies (UK):
    NetHosted
    Totalwebsolutions
    VidaHost

Agree lol; especially if you believe it fits well with your business. 123-Reg are not suitable for hosting but great for domain name registering.
