Chicken Tonight - sc

I have chicken tonight and drumsticks and just wondered if it was possible to bung it all in a slow cooker and let it do its stuff.
I could cook it in the overn, but I've heard that cooking chicken bits in the sc makes them very tender and nice. Plus it will be handy to have it cooked when I get in from work.
Do I need to put anything else in there? Is 12 hours on low too long?

Are you saying you have a jar of stuff and some bits of chicken?
When I have used a ready made jar of stuff, I do it in a casserole dish surrounded by water in the sc! I have left it on all day .... no probs!0 -
I don't think there's enough room to put another bowl in there with water around the outside. I was just going to put the whole lot in the bowl that's there.
I leave the house at 6.30 and don't get home till 5.15pm. That won't be too long, will it?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

No, I put mine on on Monday at 5.45am and had it at 6pm, same sort of thing, chicken thighs in a casserole sauce. The chicken fell of the bones but that was ok once I'd fished them out!0 -
Got 16 drumsticks in the freezer. How many is reasonable for two people? Can you believe I've never cook drumsticks before, but they were BOGOF in Tesco.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

i think 2 each is adequate really:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
My DH will eat 4, my 2 and 3 year old will nibble away on 2 each. Guess it depends on the size of the drumsticks sometimes they are really big (in which case quantities are halfed) but other times they are winny little things with no meat on. They are always lovely cold for packed lunches etc anyway if you do do too much0

Well I've got my slow cooker going at home. Bit scared. Only used it once before and was wary about leaving something on all day while we're out!
It was 6.30am when I put it on, so I didn't brown the chicken, and just bunged the Chicken Tonight sauce over the top (I know I should make my own sauce, but they were in the cupboard).
I put it on low, so hopefully when we get back about 5.30pm, we won't find the cat has smelt it, figured out how to get into it, and is happily munching away on it!
Wish me luck that I haven't made a big soggy mess and that we have to go to the fish and chip shop (which bf would probably actually really like!).Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

the lids are pretty heavy on slow cookers
hopefully your cvat wont go near it.
Thing is it will be perfect when you get in.
Knock up spome rice, potatoes, pasta ( or bring in a bag of chips!) and your away! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
