some buyers leave a nasty feeling

Grrr,
I rarely have problems on ebay yet today I think I've found a , how shall I put it?, less than honest buyer. The only thing I don't understand is why he is scamming, assuming he is scamming, for such small amounts. In my case around the £4 mark.
Nast nasty abusive man pays after 10 days, pays for 2nd class postage and then demands a refund two days later when item hasn't arrived. I explain that he has only just paid and he apologised and says he muddled me with another seller. Three days later another demand for a refund, so I politely ask him to confirm his phone number and contact details for my Royal mail claim and confirm that as soon as he responds I will refund him.
I usually just refund but something felt wrong on this one..hence the slight stall. I get another identical demand two days later again, so send my response via ebay this time. Tonight, after a few more days he is saying I am a liar and a thief and as I am ignoring him he will chargeback and ruin my paypal reputation. I have responded explaining that I have emailed him a total of 4 times, twice via ebay and have had no response. I have now refunded him in full.
A look at his feedback though shows 2 negs that mention refunds after claiming for a lost parcel, 2 withdrawn feedbacks with all sorts of accusations against the sellers (one where it looks like he refused to sign for a recorded delivery parcel and negged the seller for not sending it), plus 5 neutrals for all sorts of reasons. His feedback is now down to 92%. More worryingly he has bid on 240 items in the past 30 days and has won approximately half of them.
This guy is either running some sort of scam on low amounts, or else is an idiot, and I can't decide which. I've tried reporting him to ebay and just keep getting 'this page cannot be displayed' error messages, so double grrrr.
Sorry for venting but I am so cross. As soon as I get back from my holiday, and assuming I haven't calmed down I think I might start an NPB on him. I wouldn't normally but there is something very fishy about this one.

That's awful and you have my sympathy. There are some complete horrors using eBay and it's a shame because as you say the vast majority of people are honest.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24
currently: £13,353.25DFW Nerd 178Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
oh yes they are all out there! you really have my sympathy. in similar situations in the past, i'm ashamed to say i've just refunded the small amount just to get rid of them and protect my feedback rating. i know it's like giving in to them, but sometimes i think, if you didnt, they would carry it on forever. good luck with it.0

Can you post a link so we all can avoid this buyer aswell0

Imagine having such a sad life you felt defrauding someone of £4 was worth the effort.0

If he's doing chargebacks through Paypal he will be found out as they will only allow 3 per month (or something like that).
Unfortunately as you've refunded him the money without him needing to start the Paypal dispute this one will be missed .0 -
Yes...please name and shame....0

sorry to hear this soo!! theres always some tw4t in the system! I have a bloody awkward buyer at the moment! stoopid caw is saying I owe her the items, she won 3 and paid for 2, after a few weeks of trying to contact her for the third payment, I refunded the 2 and started a npb as she is not contacting me! Now she is saying how angry and upset she is!!!!
Anyways whats his name? pm me if you don't wanna make it public although these peeps should be named so we can protect ourselves!

Thank you all, I won't name him as I really don't think that's right for this forum.
moneyfornothing...what you say in your post occured to me after I had refunded him. I noticed that he tends to buy from good feedback sellers, maybe he realises we will just refund rather than go to chargeback. However even with hindsight I would still have refunded, firstly, because I would lose a chargeback and secondly as I have some very high price items listing today and don't want my paypal account frozen as they are all immediate payment required.
I have reported the seller to ebay for invalid contact details, and also sent an email via th epowerseller route saying that I have concerns about this buyers buying habit. I'm not holding my breath for any result from ebay though
Thank you all for letting me vent.
