Barclaycard

Options
I have had a credit card (originally a Morgan Stanley card)for around 4 years with an interest rate of 3.9% for the life of the balance. I transferred about £6k onto this card and have beenpaying it off at £100 per month. The card was taken over by Barclaycard about two years ago. The latest interest charges per month had dropped down to £8.00. This month the interest charges was £39.00, I queried this with Barclaycard and they said that they have cancelled my 3.9% deal although couldn't say why, I haven't made any late payments not have they written to me advising me of changes interms and conditions. I asked for a copy of my contract (two weeks ago) and it still hasn't arrived.
Two questions
a) Can Barclaycard do this?
b) Who is the best person to complain to?

I'd like to know how a bank or card company can just cancel a contract like that?

Can you explain a bit for us who fail to get this?

Although I agree he has to go through their complaints procedure before the FOS.

OP, make sure you write to them asking for an explanation of why your deal was cancelled, and send all letters by recorded delivery. If they phone to explain insist any response is done in writing.

Once you've had the merry go round then you can go to the FOS.

A more pertinent question though is, did you miss any payments recently or go over your limit, and did you get any letters at all from your card company explaining the change?

If not mention it in your letter to them.

    D.

Simple...you never ever sign anything for a LOB
  • As a follow up to this I rang Barclaycard again today as they had still not sent a copy of my original contract as promised.
I spoke to a supervisor who agreed that they had not notified me of a change to the terms and conditions of my original contract i.e. 3.9% for the life of the balance, also he admitted that they were not going to change the terms and conditions.
He is going to investigate this matter, re-issue the incorrect statement and re-calculate the interest.
Moral of the story, keep an eye on your statements especially the inetrest charged and especially by Barclaycard, I can't be the only person this has happened to
