    Hi and welcome

And yes you can, it makes no difference if the loan is settled or still active.

Do you mind me asking what your reasons are?
And all you do is complete the reclaiming questionnaire as shown on the link below, send to whoever set up your loan (head office), remember to keep copies of all you send and receive, this is in case you need to refer to this at some point or make a complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).

They normally have 8 weeks in full to give a decision and should keep you updated.
    Good luck.

  • Hi. I haven't been on for a while and hadn't seen your reply, so apoologies and thanks.

When I applied for the loan and I was sold the PPI - over the telephone - I was asked if I had any medical problems and I said I that I had previously had problems with my lower back. He suggested that if the problem recurred and I had no medical insurance, that I was likely to get into problems with the loan repayments and that it would be better to get the PPI on that basis. His tone and manner suggested to me that if I didn't take the PPI, I would be unlikely to get the loan based on my medical history. He talked very quickly when explaining all the terms and conditions of the PPI and the loan.

Thanks again, please let me know what you think

    Hi there

It may be a good idea to request for a transcript of the telephone conversations, this may help your case if you want to make a reclaim.

The ppi should have been made optional and you should not have been told that to have the loan you must take out the ppi, again also due to you back condition, basically they would not pay out if you were to make a claim down to this med condition, especially as this was a pre existing condition at the time of taking out the loan.

Look into reclaiming, follow the details below, to the reclaiming questionnaire, complete and send to whoever set up your account, head office, keep copies and they have 8 weeks to give a decision, but may ask for more time.
    Good luck.

Who was the lender? depending on how long ago you took it out the lender might still have a call recording as some lenders keep them for longer then the 6 years there supposed to keep them for
