  • Sorry I don't know the answers to all your questions but you will only be able to get your tax credits back dated by a maximum of three months. So if they say recieved your form today, the maximum you would get it backdated to would be 13/08/10.

Student finance (apart from the adult dependants grant) is ignored for WTC & CTC.

With regards to the backdating, where on the form do I state I want it backdated? Or how do I go about having it backdated?

Some cases may be backdated prior to 3 months - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/ntcmanual/backdating/ntc0110070.htm
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Is the grant of £1050 been awarded to you to pay towards the courses, due to your income level?

I would do if there isn't a place on the form for it.
