yeah colours can run onto radiators, they have been able to since the dawn of radiators and dyed clothes.

since you dont have an airing cuboard just use a radiator drying rack, they were invented and designed to hold the clothes off the radiatior esp. for sensitive clothes like colour run clothes.

or you hang the garment from a coat hanger above the radiator.

I have received another reply which is as follows -

    Dear Jenna,

    Thank you for providing Photos.

Please confirm the action you are planning on taking to repair the radiator, be this painting, repair etc...

We would require a quote for the damages to assist you further.

    Kind regards,

    Vikki

So this is progress and seems they are willing to compensate me. But we live in a rented property and I don't think the landlord would think painting the radiator was acceptable - so the other options are - buy some expensive cleaning products (haven't got a clue what would work) or replace the radiator - do you think this is too much to ask?

Have told them I will speak to my landlord and get back to them.

    Then you have two options,

    1. Fess up to your landlord, say ASOS are willing to pay (bear in mind ASOS will run everything by their fabric technologist and loss department so let him know no wool-pulling-over-eyes will work!) You will no doubt have paid your landlord a deposit? the fee for any work will likely come out of your deposit so it may be an idea to tell your landlord whats happened anyway. If you feel he/she is being unfair with the costs you can always go to the CAB for advice.

Or 2. Get a quote from a professional cleaner and then get this professional quote scanned/mailed in to ASOS.

I used to work in a retail customer service department for fashion retail, this is how it used to be when I was there anyway.

Completely agree with above post- however speak to landlord about painting- he may not be desperately bothered. With gloss paint they often look good as new. You may be getting stressed over nothing.

Hi, I don't know if it would work but when my kids write on the walls etc I take it off with a magic eraser (you get them in the supermarkets or pound shops). They look like big white rectangular sponges. They take lots of things off stuff (food dye off kitchen cabinets, pen marks, marks in the bath), but to be truthful it didn't take permanent marker off my radiators. It might be worth a go though as they only cost a few pounds.

All the best with getting it sorted, I wouldn't have expected the dye to run onto my radiator either x

  • You shouldn't use gloss paint on a radiator as it will age and turn yellowy - if you are going to paint it, you need radiator paint!

Will look for magic sponge tomorrow

Tried baking soda combinations, lemon juice, bleach, WD40 and other household cleaners .....

Don't know what a professional cleaner would have that would do it but can only hope
