Advice re Barclays PPI on loan

  • I was hoping to update with some good news today but alas no. I logged my complaint to barclays over 8 weeks ago. Customer relations kept saying no one had been assigned etc. The day before the 8 weeks were up I rang barclays to chase before refering to fos, the next day a message was left on my mobile phone by a case handler. They had upheld my complaint but asked for 4 weeks to process due to them being busy. Wow, obviously I was very pleased.
I had initially complained re 1 ppi but later I had added others to the complaint. I wanted to check to see if all had been upheld as only one upheld was mentioned in the messages. Rang barclays, rang again x 6. Today someone in customer relations speaks to the case team and it seems someone had forgot to set the other loans up as complaints (apparently they need to be logged separately). Checked again and now two more complaints are added today and all three shown as being looked at. Now barclays cant even confirm the first ppi complaint is upheld. With them now setting up new complaints I would imagine they get another 8 weeks to process.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there

With each complaint, there is a separate case ref number.

So when you do receive anything in writing a case number should also be enclosed.

I would see what happens once the 8 weeks are up on the others you sent to them afterwards, but the one they upheld write to them and ask them to send you the decision of this one in writing only.

The others should follow in due course.

Hope this gets sorted out as soon as possible, good luck.

  • Thanks, its just annoying that because someone messed up and forgot to set up two other cases I now have to start gain on these. I would not be so annoyed if I had not forseen this in december and rang to check that separate numbers were not needed. Got told as the two others are clearly mentioned in previous conversations on their system it would all be dealt with together.
  • the seperate ppi claims (seperate ref numbers) will all heave their own time lines.......meaning the original one should still be on the same original timeline, each ppi claim does need a new reference number, however the CS agent should have known this, not you.

also, further up this thread you mentioned the 8%, and someone said you would get it automatically.....YOU WONT!!! if you want it you need to call, quoting the reference numbers and saying you would like to request 8% statutory interest to them.....and make sure they note it on the system FOR EACH COMPLAINT. this will not alter the timings of the complaint, as it is just an alteration.

  • I spoke to barclays this evening and added a request for 8% to be included in any redress but was informed that this is done automatically with every case anyway. Added the note anyway though.
2 new reference numbers came through the post this morning (even though its cleary on their message system at end november they have deemed these 2 were logged last week. 8 more weeks to wait.
The first complaint is now over 8 weeks, and even though they have a note on the system that someone called me and left a message to say complaint upheld - they still cannot confirm to me that it has been. Something to do with the system still showing as ongoing until calcs are done.
