Tryhard, thank you for your suggestion. I've moved your thread into the site questions and suggestions board where it should get plenty of response.

generally i would be against the idea. on a board like OS where so many areas overlap, i think it would be hard to determine what should go where (OSers are famed for going off on tangents :D ). it would create more work for the board guides, not to mention the havoc it would play with squeakys index! :rotfl:

if there was to be a split, i doubt that OS could support morethan one sub board. in which case probably the most effect way to split would be to have 'creative stuff' (ie cooking, gardening and craft) in one section, and running the house (cleaning and keeping bills) down as another.

would this resolve the problem of up to 4 pages worth of threads per day to trawl through? personally i doubt it would do little to change the number of threads, they would just be in different places

another reason i'd be against it (sorry to rain on your parade here tryhard :D ) is that the very essence of the OS board is about getting back to a thriftier, more environmentally friendly, wholesome way of live. our grannies didnt see cleaning aside from cooking, or darning socks as an aside from growing vegetables; it was all part and parcel of running a household. i think OS reflects this, and personally thats the way i feel it should stay.

In Old Style, there is an indexed section which covers all past cleaning topics: Save Zillions on Cleaning and there's also a Recipe Index of most of the recipes posted on the OS Board. Lots of other topics which have been posted over time also appear in the Mega Index (Tip: If you bookmark those links, it makes finding something much quicker and easier :) )

For that aspect, you may like to look at the Utilities Board for topics on Gas & Elec; Water; Fuel and other heating. There's also a Telephones Board for home phones, mobile phones and internet moneysaving. Also, you might find useful posts in the In my Home (inclu. DIY) Board .

That would explain Mrs Jones boiling her linens on the stove in the preserving pan and Mr Jones using the beyond darning socks for the scarecrow in the allotment ;) :rotfl:

I was about to suggest the same thing. I think OS is getting far too busy. I also think the new book will see an influx of new readers to the board - especially old style and think it will be much easier to use if there are separate sections - especially under cleaning and recipes. :)

hmm there are 2 threads by the same person on this - can they be merged.. I think they should be divided too, but hmm.
