Selling books on Ebay? Or can I sell elsewhere?

I have 35 books in the series 'Victorian and Edwardian Photographs', pub. by Batsford, mostly of the counties in the UK, and a few towns. It is not a complete set.

Can anyone advise me whether to sell them on Ebay as a set, or whether there is any bookseller who would buy them off me? I don't have time to list them individually, and there are no booksellers near me.

Of course I will have to offer collection only as there are so many.

They sell for between £3 and £15 each on Ebay. I'd be happy for £2 each.

Any advice?
Many thanks.

ive had a bit of luck selling books on my local gumtree, unfortunately they were most bought by a dealer and offered as a job lot

A dealer will be looking as less than 20p per book so if you want more you may well have to spend some time trying them on ebay.

It depends how much they would cost to post individually, as if someone buys the job lot you would be lucky to get someone who wasn't a dealer buying up joblots so he can sell them at £2 a pop :(.

If you have a credit card you could try Amazon - listing them individually and realising what you want for them would be easier there than trying to get a sale on Gumtree and ending up selling to a dealer. Although if they are heavy then they may not be economical to post. The way things appear to be listed on Amazon there is less scope for having to write out huge individual listings and photograph them and so on, but I am only coming from a buyer's POV, and they would have to be in the Amazon catalogue individually. They are also exorbitant in terms of fees and so on.

It will be a bit of a trade-off between convenience of getting rid of the whole lot and having time to give to each individual book to get the best price for them, but a free-ad site such as Gumtree or a local paper would possibly be your best bet.

fatbrains have a very limited sort of book they will pay for and even then will pay a fraction of its value. They need the profit in it to resell themselves (probably on Amazon or ebay).

Greenmetropolis do not buy books at all, they are just another venue like Amazon but with much less turnover.

I would go the Amazon route and leave the books sitting in a box. Its easy to list just input the isbn number. No fees unless it sells. It tells you have much you would receive before you confirm listing. If its not worth it don't put it but the higher value ones will make it worth it. Get some packing bought ready pop book in a jiffy bag etc and just post within 2 days. Confirm posting and the money goes into your amazon seller account. Every 2 weeks or so Amazon send the money to your bank for free.

I have 2 boxes with Amazon and Play written on and its just a nice little bonus if they sell and no hassle if they don't. Play keep the money as playfunds so you can buy whatever off their site if you want i think they charge 5% to withdraw it to your bank. I just buy more books for me or dvd's for the kids. Reminds me i have been reading lots of books lately and not put them on either site. I only list the books on whichever site can give me the most cash.
