incorrect meter reading given by landlord

Hi I recently started renting a property where the landlords relative used to live when we moved in he took some meter readings and gave us some free units, he then phoned the energy company up to give them the final readings, I stayed with the same company to make it easy, anyway I've just taken a gas and electric readings and the gas has passed the few extra units he gave us however the electric shows we are 850 units behind the actual reading meaning he has given us 900 kilowatt free, I know he's had his final payments which means he's paid for the electric but I am unsure if he wanted to give us that amound free?

I am unsure what to do, do I just carry on as normal knowing it will take a few months to catch up or do I tell my energy provider?

Any advice?

Thanks
