Travelodge booking guest name?

I just booked a Travelodge room for my husband but to save putting all the details in logged into my account (in my maiden name) and just changed the guest name in the pop up box. The confirmation has come through in my name so I obviously did something wrong and their Customer Services say only I can now stay. Surely if he shows up with the booking confirmation showing his card no.on it, that his Driving Licence address matches the booking the hotel will be fine? :(

  • Sorry l can't answer your question, but l wonder then how it works when they receive say corporate bookings, surely an admin person would book rooms for other people.

Perhaps do a search for 'travelodge' on saynoto0870 to find the local number for the actual place where your husband will be staying and check with them direct.

When you go to book a Travelodge room, the very first item (under 'Room Price') is a button to tick to say 'I am booking a room on behalf of someone else and will not be staying' - it sounds like the OP may have missed ticking that box, as if they had it presumably would have asked for the name of the person that the room was being booked for ...

    Travelodges terms and conditions are not entirely clear. Quote;

    2. You may make a booking on someone else's behalf. You are responsible for ensuring that any customer in your booking complies with these terms as if that customer had made the booking.

    5. You must ensure that the name on a booking is correct at the time of booking. Subject to section 7, this cannot be changed after making the booking.

Are Travelodges customer services people so inflexible that they cannot correct a simple mistake?

If the guest was the same gender as the person making the booking then there would be no problem as they usually just check the booking confirmation and ask you to confirm your address.

Don’t suppose hubby would be too pleased if you offered to lend him a wig, some lippy and black eye shadow. :D

On a practical level, the name really does matter. Travelodge reception ask for the name and address for security purposes and that's it. In the extremely unlikely event that the receptionist queried the sex of the quest, the answer is "my wife will be arriving later". I am a great TL fan and after hundreds of visits I have not been asked for ID even once when turning up for a pre-booked and pre-paid room..

What is worrying here is that the o/p has been told by customer services that only she can stay at the hotel. If that is true then if "push turns to shove" then hubby can be refused the room.

Have found on their ask a question on their own website 'if someone other than named guest is staying notify hotel direct in advance' in other words website says it's ok. Guess call centre haven't a clue then!

So... surely this indicates that TL aren't confirming your name for security reasons. If security was an issue you'd be asked to prove who you are.

Yep, Tara you are correct. But with the proviso, again within the terms and conditions, that sale and saver rooms are non-transferable. Change of guest name only applies strictly to rooms booked at full rate!

  • People sell these bookings all the time on ebay, take a look. The feedback seems good. So long as you print off the pdf reciept there shouldn't be a problem.

The guest name is different from the name on the booking

Once a reservation has been made you are unable to change the name of the guest. However, if you contact the hotel directly you can advise them if a different person is using the room. Please be aware this will not change any VAT receipts.

    Rate this answer:!!

This was listed under the amend your Saver Rate booking, I could also change my room type for a £5 fee if required.
