Overcharged on P+P

Hi all, I won several items from one seller,asked beforehand about combined P+P and all was fine.Thing is the items arrived today.Postage on the parcel was £5.40 yet i've paid £18 as combined P+P which i believe to be excessive. Would it be right to ask them for a further refund or just hammer their stars down.I'm very happy with the items just not the P+P.I personally would refund about 80-90% of the difference(there is packaging after all) but thats just me.

Any suggestions before i leave my feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks Tunnel

I would always contact the seller first in case it was a genuine mistake, just say that you feel the excess postage charged was very high.

If that does no good then reflect your poor experience in the stars.

This sort of thread is getting really really really (is that enough really's) boring. You knew what you were paying for postage when you bought the items and clearly still felt you were getting a bargain even with that level of postage costs.

When you buy an item from a mainstream supplier and they charge you 5.99 do you really think it costs them that? Do you go back and ask for a refund? If you go onto Amazon they charge you 2.75 to recieve a paperback which costs 99p to send.

BLT, it doesn't really matter though what we on a board think. The buyer is unhappy so is perfectly entitled to reflect that view in stars.

It is a very dim seller that would carry on overcharging to that extent while their stars plummet.

Thanks Soolin,that was my first thought,just thought i'd ask a few of you more experienced ebayers first,glad i didn't just pay the original P+P which was £24

BLT,just seen your reply.I understand what your saying and in principle i do agree with you,but i asked for combined P+P beforehand and would hope the seller to be honest in their P+P costs,if i'd known they were going to charge so much more than the real postage cost i'd have told them to send them individually,as soolin says,it won't take many overcharges like this to hammer down their stars,something which i will be more than likely be doing.

Enough threads like this one prove that what BLT says doesn't matter - buyers do feel aggrieved about overcharges and are prepared to complain.

But the buyer didn't buy from Amazon or anywhere else. They bought from ebay who allow you to rate someones postage and only allow you to charge reasonable costs. Its a very stupid seller that risks their account by overcharging on postage. It's as simple as that. By the way your replies to this are getting rather dull to,

Amazon's charges are ridiculous for some items - I've started buying more from the actual business rather than third parties as a result of them going free delivery. I get annoyed by their charges to send things like sunglasses and usually buy stuff like that elsewhere if I can. So don't start thinking that that's acceptable to many people either.

I questioned one last week, a table lamp, and I kid you not postage was £28.

Needless to say it didn't sell. There is one on the 1st page now (type table lamps) postage £20.

Just ignore sellers like these
