I receive the following message:

Generic Host process for Win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Shortly after the machine freezes.

I Googled it and the suggested fix 902400 doesn't help as my machine says it is older than the system I running.

I am running XP service pack 3. I have run Malwarebytes several times. It did pick up 3 infections (trojan agents) which I am unable to remove (they are in quarantine).

The last scan found no infections.

Can anyone cast any light on this to a non techie please?

Incidentally, I did inadvertently cancel a Microsoft Update recently before it had completed and was unable to reinstate it - not sure if that affects things.
