Computer problems please help!!

Hi,

My dad has been having problems with his computer over the last 6 months it has had to be fixed so many times.

The latest problem is that when my sister tries to do things on the internet such as on some websites when she is applying for jobs and selects next it wont do anything it will just keep bringing back that page with no issues on it at all.

Also dont know if it related or not but she was also trying to watch one of her programmes on a popular catch up service on the computer but it just would not do it??

I am stumped i am a technophobe but because i use a computer a lot they think i have the answer to everything please help!!!!

Are you sure it is not simply that the website itself has a problem?

You could check this by using another computer to access the problem site/s.

  • Like BritRael said, it could be the website. However it could also be alot of things.

Depending on your operating system (If it's Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7) you could use system restore

This will restore your pc to when it was last working.

You could also try a different Internet Browser such as these listed below

    Firefox

    Google Chrome

    Safari

If the above doesn't work please supply the following details about your machine

    Operating System
    Internet Browser (Including version)

And i'll be able to advise further.

p.s sorry I couldn't post links due to my low post count but PM me if you need pointing in the right direction.
  • Thanks for your advice so far yeah i have checked these websites including spending three hours applying for a job i amn't even qualified for just to make sure.

I love system restore bur unfortunately i cant even think of when the computer was working as normal i dont want to start other problems that they use to have with it.

I cant remember what operating system it is i know it is definately windows but cant remember which one i will check when i go visiting tomorrow and get back to you on that one if thats ok???

I will try downloading another one of the web browsers also and see if that sorts the problem also.

Thanks again for all the advise xx
  • Hi there,

So sorry i didn't get back to you all but thank you so much. Tried to download Firefox but it wouldn't do it for some reason so i downloaded Google Chrome instead and hey presto! It worked!!!

    Thank you all so much!
    xx
