Aviva Home Insurance Claim - anyone dealt with them - what to expect?

So last week, we woke to water dripping into our daughter's bedroom and into the lounge - right old mess.

In short, the walls, decorating and flooring upstairs is damaged, together with our laminate floor in the lounge, rug, sofa, tv, dvd and a few other contents.

We had the loss adjuster visit today who said we just need to submit quotes for all the repairs/replacements to the buildings and that Rainbow will be round to clean our sofa and stairs/landing carpet next week. She said they will also test all the electical items affected and replace old for new/repair.

Has anyone had dealings with Aviva in a situation like this? Did it all go smoothly? Weve' never claimed for anything like this before so are not sure what to expect...

No idea. A similar claim I had took a few weeks to sort out. Just crack on with getting your estimates etc and take it from there. I'm not sure that anyone else's experiences with Aviva will be that relevant. The only experience you can judge will be your own.
  • If it involves Asprea you're doomed, if not you might get lucky.:)

A cash settlement with Aviva may not include the labour cost be careful.Aviva will always want to cash settle as it is cheaper for them.

Since Asprea have been taken over by Aviva the surveyors have been given training on specific insurance policies and Insurance Principals which is good but beware Aviva will always want to cash settle removing the labour costs from your settlement which I feel is not good practice and possibly fraud.

In the past the surveyors at Asprea were just working off one set of instructions.

Also your premium will go up so you will pay for it in the long run !
