cwtch is welsh for cuddle / love

Cwtch, the Welsh for a cuddle is the nation's favourite word, according to a survey for a children's charity.

IT'S one of the nations's favourite words, and symbolises that warm feeling that only closeness to a loved one can create.

so by those definitions it could either be warm or love , ive gone with love :)

  • Looked this up and bebebelle, you're right!

In the dictionary cwtch, which has long been a familiar word in the Welsh language, was given two definitions: noun (Welsh) 1. a cupboard or cubbyhole. 2. a cuddle or hug.

As a native Welsh speaker, I confirm that the correct translations of the Welsh word "cwtch" are: 1. a cupboard or cubbyhole 2. a cuddle or hug.

The Welsh word for love is "cariad" (noun) and "caru" is the verb. Technically, "love" is incorrect. However, of the three options, "love" is the closest in meaning by association.

Yes, I remember as a kid we used to say 'cwtch' for cuddle... maybe someone should email the company and tell them it's a trick question and could we have a pair of bootees for pointing that out :)!
