what is your computer, simple specs, operation system etc
have you tried any other USB devices in your pc? do they work ok?
have you tried another usb port?
have you use the device before in your pc?
do you have another pc you can try? does it work in that machine if you do (have another pc available)?
how old is your pc?
how old is the sony device?
just a few relevant questions off the top of my head.0 -
The player has been used successfully before on this computer (last used about 2 months ago)
Now, no connection.0 -
from my experience, the usb device may have had it.
im not saying that is the case here, but usb devices, even expensive sony products, are prone to power spikes which can kill the usb bridge, meaning that no pc will find it.
now with this in mind i would plug it into another usb port, or another PC just to be sure and see if it starts to be detected.
if it does get found by another pc then your pc is to blame, and another kettle of fish entirely.
if it is your USB stick then you might want to go back to the shop where you bought it from (or sony directly) and try and get a replacement. hence the question of how long you've had it, might be under warranty.0 -
I've just put the device into my laptop and it says 'data access, do not disconnect'0

im guessing thats the device's display?
does your PC actually allow you to view the data on your device?0 -
Yes, device display.
No, laptop does not allow me to view the data.0 -
the device is just detected that its plugged into a pc, not that anything is transferring, i wouldnt trust the devices readout.
i still say its busted, sorry0 -
Have you tried pressing the Reset button on the Walkman? I haven't had your problem, but mine will sometimes corrupt its database and Reset seems to fix it.0
