We really value our customers and their feedback.

As you know, we’re growing really fast and customer service is very important to us. So if you have any feedback, good or bad, please do email us on the above address and our senior team will look into it immediately.

I think you'll find that many of us have been providing feedback for some considerable time - but getting nowhere with it! That's why there are so many negative posts in this thread.

For me, the key issues centre on the appalling online banking website and the failure to operate Faster Payments within anything even approaching the timescales that 'proper' banks manage. Others may have different priorities, but until those two issues are properly sorted out I'm afraid I'm just not prepared to use Metro for anything other than overseas cash withdrawals.

Hi MetroBank Rep. As I'm sure you're wise enough to appreciate, not everyone using your bank is negative, nor do they find your website appalling, nor do they have any particular concerns about your faster payment set-up and certainly dont consider you to be less than a "proper bank". Please dont follow "proper banks - look where they've ended up.

Reckon your services are good to great in our experience with the only exception being a couple of messages left on your website simply not being responded to over the past couple of years. No doubt some others will have more to say on this issue.

Our only "concern" is around lack of info re just when you are going to start to operate up here in the north of England :A

Surely Metro bank's main problem is that previously vociferous supporters of their company are now becoming equally vociferous in their criticism of the shortcomings in its services. Personally, I'm not a customer and have no intention of considering becoming one until I'm fully convinced that their staff are competent at standard banking functions. (I suspect I'd feel the same towards any start-up bank.)

    Which capital?
I took my two Metro bank cards to New York last week (credit card and debit card). No problems with either, they worked fine at several different places around the capital. The best thing was that the exchange rate was as close to the trading rate as makes no difference and no extra charges. Very happy.

Well spotted. It used to be the capital of course and we had planned to go to DC but snow stopped us.

In any case, no problems with the cards.

My son on the other hand had to wait 45 minutes to do a simple procedure at Reading. The woman that dealt with him had been chatting with colleagues during this time. He has subsequently closed his accounts and it has stopped me moving my main account to Metro. As you will be able to see from my past posts I have been a supporter but the problem is after the fluff of opening an account the actual day to day business is weak.

To be fair (and I do try sometimes!)
Craig would like to meet with you to talk about your experiences in more detail.

The head honcho has offered to meet personally and discuss some of the gripes.

It'd be interesting to know if richardmk has taken up this offer?!

  • I'm following the Metro Bank Review rather than the chain but people should read this:

I opened a bank account for my Business with Metro Bank around 8 weeks ago. First, in fact, I tried to. I gave in all the documents, and I was told it would be open in two days. The manager then disappeared, my documents got lost and I had to start again. Around an 90 minutes spent. No bank account. Went to set up again (another 30 mins), again something was missing (which I had not been told). Came in again, as I was not allowed to scan and send it, another 30-45 minutes, usually with some pleasant but wholly incompetent junior team member who spent most of his time asking the managers what he had to do, and that took 10 minutes to the back of the office. After the umpteenth visit the account was opened and I was able to deposit money. Hurray.

Then the internet banking did not work. 6 weeks later after another 2/ 3 hours going into the store, one the telephone and now on email to the tech team, who refuse to reply, I am still not closer.

This incompetence leads me to believe that if this bank are so incompetent, why in the world should we give them the money, heaven knows what their ability to look after our money is.

So, I would not recommend, anyone have any suggestions for me. I am a business owner abroad and so will be transferring money from the UK to India.

    Thanks - and don't go Metro Bank : )
