Do I need a second video card or a single video card with two ports to have two monitors on my PC?

Single video card with 2 outputs on it will work no problem. Make sure you get a card with the correct outputs for your monitors (VGA / DVI / HDMI / etc.)
  • Depends on the video card. Do you want the two monitors to show different things, ie spread the desktop across both monitors, because not all monitors with two outputs will do that, and you also need appropriate drivers / operating system support.
