seller being difficult over collection!! Grrr!

Hi, I bidded on a sideboard and was the winner at £10.
I have messaged the seller 4 times this week with no communication back. Telling them when I can pick up, I gave two dates in the week that I could pick up, and explained I could tomorrow afternoon.

Now today I have had a message saying txt me about collection.
So I have and he has said "collect it between 11.30am and 12pm tomorrow or I will relist it."

I have replied explaining that I am unable to pick up then, as my husband will need to take me (I don't drive) and he is in work by the time we get there it will be 4.30pm/5pm.

I am yet to get a reply...what can I do? I am gutted as I was relying on this sideboard and have had a move around the living room for it. And due to thinking I had won this one, I haven't bidded on others.

Shall I just leave neg feedback? As I have checked his, and he is on 66% and had 2 negs in the past due to items not arriving and lack of communication.

thanks by the way, for any replies I may get xxx

(Sorry if it is abit long winded)
Would like a Flatscreen TV or Ipad please comping fairy :) I won't ask ever again if u grant me one of these lol!!! :A xxx

66% pos feedback? The lowest I've ever heard of. Hard lesson for you, but you really must pay attention to fb, and even have a look at the stars.

From the sound of it he won't be able to list much anyway, with that fb.
Personally he sounds too much trouble, I would stay away from him. Also I would message him through ebay rather than text so that you have a record (or at least confirm arrangements and attempts to contact).
Make sure you pay with PP so that you have buyer protection (regardless of what he may have put on his listing as it's not enforceable anyway, sellers have to accept PP).

Why don't you try ringing instead of texting? I think it's too early for a neg.

  • he is back to ignoring me now.
I have tried to call but no answer, and then it was switched off.

I am going to just send all communication by ebay now. If I hear nothing back, what shall I do, cause surely I will then have ebay chasing me for the money?

eBay don't chase you for money (unless you owe fees, which you won't if you're only a buyer). Since the seller obviously doesn't want to sell it to you, just ignore it and move on.

Did it go for less than it should be worth ?
  • The seller could start a non paying claim but all you would need to do then is pay by paypal and your job is done so to speak. chances are though that he will not bother as it would mean he would have to wait the amount of days ebay state before doing anything else.

It might be best to forget this one and move on I am afraid as there is nothing quite like someone who makes it difficult to collect.

I had one sell a complete rotavator but when we got there they wanted to charge extra for the blades " as they were not in the listing" although the word complete was there twice..All worked out in the end but some people do just make it hard work

    Captive market, I suppose.

I saw a thread on the official forums about a child's play kitchen with all the plastic food pictured which turned out to be "for decoration only". The seller shoved the items into the buyer's hands, took the money and left them on the doorstep, leaving them facing the inevitable "but you should have checked while you were there!". It gets depressing sometimes.

what happens if he does say I haven't paid. Then I pay through paypal. Will I get my money back? I don't work, and can't afford to lose £10 for nothing! xx

Yes, you can claim it back through filing an Item Not Received dispute in that case, if he doesn't refund it voluntarily.

Be the first to contact ebay, he doesn't want to sell at £10 by the sound of it then neg him.

There are too many poor sellers on ebay, if you do nothing he gets away with it, and will do it to someone else.
