Bissell sold my details!!!

Anyone with a Bissell carpet cleaner that buys shampoos or parts etc. from bisselldirect.co.uk - BE WARNED!!!

I have received 2 letters just this week, essentially junk mail, from companies I have never dealt with (nor would I want to!) who have my full name and address. I hadn't even HEARD of one of them!!!

Having followed up on the first letter, I was told that they had 'rented' my details from Bissell - not impressed! :mad:
I have used bisselldirect.co.uk ONCE - I don't even own a machine, I was buying some shampoo for my mum. As with all online purchases, I ticked and unticked the relevant boxes to receive no communication, or have my details passed to third parties etc.

I have already contacted Bissell, but have yet to hear back from them, probably because rather than providing an email address on their site, they have an online form, which I never trust to bring forth a reply.

Anyone else had any similar experiences, or able to offer advice as to how I stop this spiralling out of control? Two letters in a week having gone many years without getting any, has really narked me!

Alas by the looks of the wording of the sites Privacy Policy by shopping with them you have agreed to for them to share the info.

I wonder if they will agrue you didn't tick the boxes etc to opt out, interestingly the privacy policy does not actually mention the opt out.

Also did the junk mail you received relate to Bissell products as they claim they should do above.

Surely that's beside the point. They shouldn't have received any if they ticked the relevant boxes.
