parking fine for customer

I am a tenant of a shop and have to issue parking permits for customers visiting the shop in order for them to use the private car park behind. Recently, I completed a permit for a customer who was issued a ticket. I have appealled the ticket on her behalf as she is a loyal customer and the car parking company has declined the appeal as I completed the permit in pencil and not blue/black ink! (It states on the permit that it should be completed in blue/black ink).
Advice needed please! Do I tell my customer to ignore any further correspondance or pay the fine so she does not get any more hassle? I feel responsible for the ticket as I filled out the permit and she did nothing wrong. Have I or my customer admitted any liability by appealing the ticket? I do not want to loose a loyal customer!

Tell her to ignore all the junk mail due to her, and learn an important lesson, these people are customers or potential customers , the parking companies are dirty stinking scammers as you now know, sack the scurge from your leased car park!

And please name and shame the company ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

As above. Thats the problem with these scammers their not trying to alleviate parking problems as their advertising states, their sole purpose is to scam people who have a legitimate right to be parked!

Why do you feel you 'have' to issue parking permits?

You do realise that fake PCNs issued on private land are unenforceable trash?

Have you seen the youtube link to Watchdog on this scam?

I would tell the lady to name YOU as the driver, so that you can ignore the letters on her behalf. Make sure she doesn't even think about paying the scumbags. Sorry but the fact is that if either of you pay this you'd be a mug - got to be honest - and anyone who pays these fake tickets is actually perpetuating and funding the protection racket.

This is not a real fine, you both need to know not to be taken in by the threats.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    This could be a 'wind-up'.
  • Thank you very much for your advice. I will speak to my customer tomorrow and see what she wants to do! I am definitely in favour of not paying - I don't want them to receive a penny from me!! The response from the car parking company is that if it is filled in pencil then it can be reused time and time again - what a load of rubbish. The fact that I have defended the customer and stated that she was parked correctly really annoys me, but not as much as the fact that we have to pay for these crooks to patrol the car park as part of our service charge!

If you have a retail unit and you don't want the PPC there, can't you make representations to the owners? How many spaces are there and how many other shops?

How do the others feel about it?

You're under the impression that you are dealing with a legitimate company and are involved in some sort of legitimate system.

The parking company don't give a toss about 'permits' - they just want to give out as many fake parking tickets as possible and cash the cheques from the mugs that pay.

All your role is is to reduce the chance of one of your customers being scammed by giving out these bits of paper. Of course, the parking company can disregard any of it and just give out scam invoices to anybody it likes.

You need to talk to your landlord and tell them they are driving away custom. Show them the letter from them.
  • I have spoken to my customer who is going to ignore the letters, etc so we will see what will happen. I have reported this problem to the agents who act as a go between for the tenants and the car parking company. They have been next to useless and have basically agreed with the car parking company and that I was in the wrong - this has been the most frustrating part of the problem!! I will try to explain the problem and feedback from these forums to the landlord, but he tends to leave everything to the agents to sort out - which they don't! I think some of the other tenants may be of the same opinion so will try to get some feedback. We are supposed to get waivers for genuine reasons for tickets, but apparently this is not one of them! You can imagine what kind of people I am trying to deal with! Thanks once again for the support.
