the Hot/cold pipes to the bathroom are going up from the boiler in the kitchen and we need to box them and tile over to a hight of 50cm, what will be the best stuff for this job?

We have enough leftovers to choose from of either 6mm ply, regular plasterboard and Aquapanel.

Any of them will do, but as you have it I would use the aqua panel.

Agree with MX about PB and aquapanel.

6mm ply is far too thin IMO (not only that but it doesn't meet the BS for tiling) - it will flex and the blighters will be all over the floor at some stage.
