Hello
I am at present on IB and beleive it is not means tested !
I have read on several sites that ESA is means tested, is this true ?
The amount of £16000 was stated and there would be nothing paid if anyone has over the £16000 in savings.
Anyone else have any info on this ???
Thanks Ginger555

Income related ESA is means tested, Contributions based isn't so if you have the required number of NI contributions your savings shouldn't matter...i think. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

This is true of IB/ESA currently however starting from 2012, ESA contribution based benefits within the WRAG will be limited to 1 year.
All IB claimants will be reassessed between now and March 2014 and if allocated to ESA WRAG group then they will be subjected to the new rules. Claimants in the ESA support group are excluded from the 1 year rule.
IB claimants who reach state pension retirement age during the assessment period will not be reassessed.Just in case you were wondering (some have)..... I'm a woman!0
