Finding a Holiday

Hey all,
Hoping for a bit of help. I've been planning to go on holiday for my birthday and have from the 19th until the 28th free off work.
I've been looking at teletext holidays and icelolly and was planning to book a holiday to Lanzarote today, I left it this late because I thought prices would go down the later it got.
Just before I phoned (Ola Holidays) I did a quick search of the "travel agent" and have had stories of holidays being cancelled the day before travel with no refunds due to it not being a true package holiday and no transfers being there even though they had been paid for etc. Looking at the others on Teletext/Icelolly it seems that all these companies have the same reviews.
So now I'm desperately trying to find a cheap package holiday leaving 19th/20th November from Cardiff/Bristol going anywhere with a bit of heat! I was hoping for something at not much more than £100 per person but it seems true packages cost a lot more
It's beginning to look like I won't be going anywhere and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?
Thanks for any help! Fingers crossed

Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

They indeed do cost more.

Hmm it looks like I could book the hotels/flights etc seperate and be able to afford it. I know there is still no protection but at least I'd be in control and have no middle company trying to take the mick...Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Yes it may be cheaper to do it all separately, but the "middle man" is there to protect you & your money. If the airline cancels the flight due to bad weather, strikes, volcanic ash...they may offer you a refund or alternate flights but you will lose your money on any hotel or transfers you have booked. If you are abroad and anything happens, you are very much on your own. Paying with a credit card may offer some protection in the way of a refund if a company fails but it wont get you home. There is no set pattern on late deals anymore, but the closer you get to departure, the more expensive it can get. Good luck anyway, hope you get sorted.0
