Can someone please explain e-cheque to me in layman's terms?

Basically I've sold an xbox 360 game on ebay, and the buyer has paid by Paypal e-cheque.
Two main things worry me;
Posting address - Unconfirmed
Seller Protection - Not Eligible
I'm also struggling to understand;
1.The buyer's bank gets a request to pay PayPal.
2.PayPal receives the funds from the buyer's bank.
3.PayPal will transfer the money to your PayPal account after the funds have cleared and will not be at risk of being reversed by the buyer's bank.
I understand the 1. and 2., but 3. states that It can't be reversed, yet I'm not eligible for seller protection.
Very confused, both about this and whether this is the right section, but hopefully someone can explain, thanks

Paypal confirmed address is meaningless now, it used to matter in the past but is at the moment at least a bit of a relic.
I'm not sure about no SP on eCheques though."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

The money is sitting in paypals account. The reason it takes so long to get to you is because if it is fraudulent transaction there is plenty time for it to come to light and give it back to the genuine account holder.
just remember not to post until it clears.0 -
i got paid by echeque for the first time today- for a 99p item...i told the seller it takes 5-7 days to clear and i would post once payment clears. The buyer almost certainly had no way of knowing it had gone as an echeque.
I have a very long standing paypal account, pay successfully for things all the time. yet quite randomly about 3 months ago my ebay fees were paid as an echeque, yet I had done nothing differently at all. It seems paypal just do it sometimes, goodness knows why.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
