    it shouldn't take off the coating, its enamel after all (which is very hard wearing) not non stick and a green scourer is plastic which isn't as hard as enamel.

    mine has lasted nearly 20 years and its still going strong!

    i've boiled up using washing powder but then given it a really good wash out and never had any problems

    This was the problem SUESMITH I have done this with washing powder without any problems but this time I used Ariel liquid and it has been a disaster.

    i did mine last time with the dregs of a bottle of ariel, but i did give it a really good wash as well.
